Last Tuesday

We buried him last Tuesday
It still don’t seem real
I’ve nothing much to say
Wish He’d shuffle and re-deal
We buried him last Tuesday
In the cold and in the rain
I’m keeping the wolves at bay
Grief seven-fold, the pain
We buried him last Tuesday
In the cold and in the rain
A two-act play?
Replays in my brain
We buried him last Tuesday
Shattering calamity
Emotions fray
We’re to “celebrate” tragedy?

We buried him last Tuesday
The earth is now his home
Coffin steel grey
And this worthless poem
 O.G. Hawkins
