    Jill, this painting registers alarm. Black and red are a highly significant colour combination for me.

      I associate the colour black with The Anti-Christ Image, and red signifies the need to stop and pay attention — a necessary aspect of The Second Coming.

      That was what I realized after I finished this painting, that by allowing the darkness to be there and myself to express it, it moved toward light. And that in some sense the light is there all along despite the darkness.

        This is applicable in so many horrendous experiences, yet I feel that now is the time to move into the giving aspect of darkness — Our Night.

    The sunrise this morning reminded me of a Jill Joy painting: a crack of glowing pink within an unbroken blanket of grey.
